October
Sat. Oct. 23: I’m beginning to feel like I’m getting quite a bit old. Just think to-day is my nineteenth birthday. I celebrated it by working. I helped mother put in a comfort, cleaned up a little, and went to town in the afternoon. Spent a very enjoyable day and arrived home a little late. Prince Charming has never come into my life yet I wonder when he will. I’ve had some pretty good friends and have some yet but there’re not what I want. Maybe I’m to particular but I know what I want when I consider matrimony. My ideal must be an ideal through and through with a heart pure as gold. He’ll appear someday I’m satisfied so I’ll hope on and on.
Mon. & Tues. Oct. 25 & 26: I did some cleaning and helped peel some pears for preserves.
Wed. Oct. 27: To-day was Nancy’s birthday and we had a quilting for her. Twenty-eight women were here. We single girls shook Timmil, my cat in the quilt and it jumped out the closer to Lena. I wonder if it means anything! We’ll wait and see.
Thurs. Oct 28: J.R. Stubbs, W.E. Shrode, and some nice looking H.S. boys were out to-day to check up on the corn. Wonder if I can capture one of them.
Fri. Oct. 29: I ironed this morning, went to town this afternoon and saw my beau. Some looker.
Sat. Oct. 30: I’ll be glad when Hallowe’en comes.
Sun. Oct. 31: I had a fine time. Rippeys’ spent the day with us. I’m going to tell my fortune.
November
Mon. Nov. 1: Well, my husband is to have only one name according to the results. Just an “L.” I wonder if that means anything. Time will tell. I feel kinda bummy because of a cold.
Tues. Nov. 2: Worked all day. I helped move wheat this morning, hauled dirt this afternoon, and dug up geraniums. My cold is better tonight.
Wed. Nov. 3: I went to A.E.C quilting to-day. Had a good time and an excellent dinner.
Thurs. Nov. 4: Wills’ spent the day with us. Funny things happen. Percy Vines ditched a bushel of potatoes and demolished our wheel-barrow. It was very funny. We girls could hardly keep from laughing in his face.
Fri. Nov. 5: I ironed, shelled and ground corn and am hurrying around to go to Farmersville to-night in interest of the Home Products Show and Farmers Institute.
Sat. Nov. 6: I made some tomato pickles this morning.

Tues. Nov. 9: I wrote two letters this morning and helped make kraut this afternoon.
Wed. Nov. 10: Dug potatoes to-day, came to the house and had a severe attack of the colic. I’m very tired, sore, and stiff.
Thurs. Nov. 11: Well, of all the times that I’ve had in one day. Worked all day and then went to Farmersville with the intentions of going to a speaking on “Schools” but it happened not to be so we went to Utleys’ and Erskine brought us home.
Fri. Nov. 12: I went to Craborchards’ box-social to-night. Elisha got my box and I had an excellent time. Arrived home about 12 P.M.
Sat. Nov. 13: Ironed, cleaned up the bedroom, chicken-yard, and I know not what all else.
Sun. Nov. 14: Went to S.S. and church to-day.
Mon. Nov. 15: Shrode called this afternoon.

Fri. Nov. 19: Went to hear a speaking to-night but it had been post-poned.

Tues. Nov. 30: Oh! Oh! Me! Of all the news that I’ve ever heard. My beau is to be married. Such a shock! He’s a gonner I guess. What shall I do. Wm. Hanning was down. Maybe I’ll catch someone some day.
