Post-Wedding

October 27, 2009

 We always wanted a son. Lucky for us he is not only a son but also a computer geek programmer. In fact, my whole family is pretty excited about that prospect. Health professionals, we got. Tradesmen, we got. Jon fills a void for us.

On their wedding day

My nephew and niece took the engagment and wedding photos – http://andyrobe.com/. I can’t wait to see them all 🙂

The whole wedding was quite a family affair. In addition to the photographers, the wedding planner and florist were family. Jon’s mom provided the wedding dress and miniature bride dress from her now closed bridal shop. Several of my nieces and nephews pitched in to help cook, make decorations, and decorate. Lots of family participated in the ceremony too. More about that when the photos arrive 🙂

So. Now they are in Puerto Aventura laying on the beach and sipping pina coladas. It’s awfully quiet around here. I’m thinking of throwing a party for them when they return.

Kayak Blues

September 28, 2009

About three weeks ago, we paddled the Pigeon Creek. Jessica was in my kayak, me and M in the canoe, and Jonathan in Jessica’s kayak.

So the water was pretty calm until the last leg and there were actually some white water areas, which we love. Well Jessica cuts a little too close and as she goes over a rocky area, the back of MY kayak hits the rock hard. A few minutes later, the back of MY kayak is sinking.

She was able to paddle to the bank just before it totally sank. Then M and Jonathan pulled it down creek to the take out.

I thought it was lost. I was sick. It had been my mother’s day present like 15 years ago.

As it turns out, M patched it up today with a heat gun. Since it’s made of 100% recycled liter bottles, he was able to melt it back together, then reinforce it with a milk jug! Can you believe it?

Raining Dogs

September 20, 2009

<brief annoucement>

I really must tell you about this because it’s coming up quick.

The West Side Nut Club Fall Festival begins October 4 and you don’t want to miss it. It is the second largest street festival after Mardi Gras. No really! Even Wikipedia has a page about it. I added it to my events page because I know more about it that Wikipedia does. I’ve been there. Wikipedia hasn’t, I’m fairly certain.

</brief annoucement>

It’s raining cats and dogs here in the Ohio River Valley. This is a shot out my back door. It looks like a rain forest back there.

This makes Roscoe rather depressed. Roscoe was hoping to go outside in the afternoon.

please

Roscoe likes for people to throw his ball for him. Over and over again. Roscoe is obsessed with his red ball. It’s all he thinks about. Besides food.

In his mind, he calls it “my precious.”
